My name is SUN Shuang, Chinese, and living in China.
Since I started to paint 5 years ago, I found a new world.
The source's inspirations of my paintings come up from my thoughts my mind my feelings and observerings of daily life.
Could you tell us more about your background and how you began creating art?
I was born and grew up in China, My parents were theater actors, I have a brother who is professional painter. One day, he gave me a book of Van Gogh’s painting collections that fascinated me, He led me into the colorful art world and made me graduated from the Art Education Department of Lu Xun Academy of Fine Arts. But life made me stopped art creative for long time until 2018 I was plagued by depression, the only thing could make me forget suffering was painting, I drew up my pain my feeling my sentiment my mind on the paper, canvas… emotions were released and I was cured by art creative.
What does your art aim to say to its viewers?
I don’t wish my works touch all viewers. but if my works can keep your eyes on for a moment, and touch your heart, generate empathy, that is my aim.
Can you tell us about the process of creating your work? What is your daily routine when working?
All my artworks are my sentiment records. The process of creating is a process of emotion release. I don’t have exactly preparing before creating, inspirations come out from my feelings my minds my sentiments or my dreams…sometimes there is a strong passion and desire to express on paper on linen on canvas or with camera…
What is the essential element in your art?
Self-express. emotion, sentiment, feeling…they are source of my inspiration
In your opinion, what role does the artist have in society?
If the artist must play a role in society. I don’t know, messenger of peace? At least peace brings benefits to all of the world.
