Oy Chun Eu
I was born as a twin in 1956 in Hong Kong and was brought up and educated in Singapore since an infant.
Since young I have been interested in photography. In my adult years, I took up Chinese Ink and Western Painting. Currently my chosen medium is oil and acrylic on canvas and my artistic expression is focused on painting waterscapes, landscapes, botanical and animals.
Travelling has been an annual affair since childhood times mainly to West Malaysia. When I started working I travelled to many European countries for holidays. After my marriage in 1992, I travelled extensively with my family on vacations and also on golfing trips with my friends.
Most of my creations come from the many sceneries of interests that I captured with my cameras during my travels. I like my paintings to tell a story. Using oil and acrylic mediums allow me to combine texture and brilliance in vivid colours that best capture the essence of my subjects.
I started participating in local group exhibitions since 2012. Since 2014, I have been invited by China publishers in Beijing and Jiangxi to publish my works in their art magazines. Since 2017, my paintings have been exhibited in many online and physical exhibitions in countries such as Canada, China, France, Germany, Italy, England and the USA. In 2021 and 2022, I held 2 solo exhibitions titled “Journey” and “A Journey of Shared Memories” respectively in Singapore.
In 2017, I took part in my first international online ‘ Still Life‘ Art contest from Canada and was awarded 3rd place. In the last 5 years I have also won several recognition, merit and excellence awards including a finalist and a first place for my works submitted to countries such as the USA, in Europe and China.
