Kristi Head
Kristi Head began her classical training in the visual arts at a young age, in preparatory school, and then went on to receive her BA in Fine Art and Art History from Boston University. She continued her education at Anderson Ranch Arts Center (Snowmass Village, CO) as well as studying graphic and packaging design at Parsons School of Design (New York, NY). Her training in design has served her art practice well, by seamlessly designing and executing large scale mural projects in both Los Angeles and New York City. Her paintings have also been exhibited in galleries and showrooms in both cities, as well as being included in numerous media publications including Domino, Surface, FULL BLEDE, and The Dispatch. With a keen eye for composition, Head works primarily in oil on both canvas and paper, creating evocative abstractions as well as figurative works. Most recently her Botanicals series, inspired by floral and fauna, reaches beyond their subject’s traditionally decorative role to create stirring, graphically driven abstract paintings. Her studio practice includes experimenting with large scale canvas dying, performative processes, and wearables, such as painting on silk. Head moved from New York City to Los Angeles in 2012, where she also has an art studio, in the Atwater Village neighborhood.
