Chase Ferguson

Ashley Chase Ferguson's paintings are manifestations of the artist's intuitive gestural movement. This results in both liberating expressive landscapes and abstract paintings. Abstract paintings that are the explorations in texture, composition and form. While the subjects may differ, the process does not. It allows Ferguson to see shapes and colors; inviting her hand to follow its rhythm in an intuitive dance. In some paintings, Ferguson uses a variety of materials in addition to acrylic paint; gemstones, gold leaf, markers and paper.

Ferguson lives and works in Wilmington, NC. She earned her BA in Fine Arts in from Guilford College (Greensboro, NC.) and also studied at Parsons School of Design (New York, NY). To continuously develop both her landscape and abstract paintings, Ferguson also travels to attend workshops with classically trained instructors to locations like Amalfi (Greece), the Dominican Republic and Japan. For nearly a decade, Ferguson worked collaboratively with interior designers creating paintings based on desired palates. She showed her artwork in the Interior Design Showcase house in Charlotte in 2003, and Ferguson has also exhibited her work in prominent art galleries such as the Burke Arts Council Jailhouse Gallery (Morganton, NC) and The Marshall Gallery (Greensboro, NC).
