Anthony Achille
Anthony Achille is a 24-year-old London-based artist whose expressive works explore the complexities of the human condition. Using acrylic and gouache on canvas, Anthony primarily employs colour as a means of communication. His paintings often depict surreal, melancholic, or absurd environments, in which lone figures are engulfed by their surroundings. To Anthony, these imaginative landscapes feel more grounded than the physical spaces he occupies. Through his art, he seeks to connect the dots of his lived experiences.
Could you tell us more about your background and how you began creating art?
Painting is a vessel which helps me to live intentionally. As a process, it feels cathartic and provides space for me to explore moments in time. I've always felt the urge to create since a child, it's one of my favourite things about living.
What does your art aim to say to its viewers?
Life is absurd, so lean into that and all that comes with it.
Can you tell us about the process of creating your work? What is your daily routine when working?
A large part of my process is centred around language and colour. Different elements provide clues and context to the story I am trying to tell, from the painting titles to the small details threaded between each canvas.
What is the essential element in your art?
Colour and context.
In your opinion, what role does the artist have in society?
To offer a perspective.
